Christopher Newport University didn’t
have a rock climbing club,
so we started one
ASSEMBLING A TEAM
A club isn’t a club with just two people in charge, we reached out to peers to get an initial leadership team for the year.
200 members
in just a few months
of starting the club
We advertised all over campus for this club, flyers, Instagram posts, and I even went around the campus gym asking students if they were interested in joining the GroupMe group chat. In the first two months, we had over 200 students in the CNU Climbing Club GroupMe.
After many meetings with administration,
CNU Climbing Club became an
official club sport
at Christopher Newport University.
We organized
climbing competitions
against other universities
in Virginia such as
James Madison University
and William & Mary
SOCIAL
MEDIA
I created the CNU Climbing Club Instagram in Fall 2023, choosing @captainsclimbing to tie into the university’s Captains identity, helping it grow to reach 1 in 12 students at Christopher Newport University
I ran the Instagram account and created graphics for the first two full years of the club.
